Project
Design for print: Thomas Gainsborough’s story
Objective
To bring to life a programme celebrating the life and work of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable.
Results
- Legacy assured for the original trail, collaboration fostered between peer organisations
Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury was the catalyst for the launch of a new trail celebrating the artists John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough. The goal of the project was to foster collaboration between visitor attractions whose focus is on one or both of the artists, across three counties in Eastern England .
As a direct outcome of the earlier Gainsborough trail in Sudbury, we decided to maintain the style of that piece, ensuring it still felt relevant and could fit into the new, larger area. To bring this to life we expanded the concept we started with Gainsborough’s House. Our creative studio designed and artworked new printed guides as well as a series of exhibition panels, which brought the trail to life at each of the ten locations.
This is one of a number of Spring projects designed to create multiple positive outcomes for the cultural and tourism industries in the East: nurturing in-sector and cross-sector collaboration, encouraging visitors to engage more fully with a wider area and supporting the visitor economy in a sustainable way.
